MIDDLETOWN (Mar 4, 2004)- The new majority on the Middletown Board of Supervisors is structuring a buyout package to be presented at the next Supervisors meeting on Tuesday March 9th at 7:30 pm.  Reports confirm that John Burke is being forced-out of his role as Middletown Township Manager, a position he has held for over twenty years.
Sources report that the corrupt board majority of Kelly, Pflaumer, Caro, and Mongillo wanted the Personnel Officer, Paula Kearns, fired.  Kearns, who received a top performance evaluation in December, is being targeted by the board so they can wrest control of the hiring and firing in the township. With Kearns out of the way, Kelly-Pflaumer-Caro-Mongillo will be able to install unqualified political hacks in township positions as an additional mechanism to rob the taxpayers. Township Solicitor James Downey has confirmed that he was ordered by Kelly to communicate to Burke that Kearns was to be fired.
But their plans were thwarted when Burke refused to fire one of his top employees. Supervisor John J. Kelly Jr. reportedly threatened Burke with firing. An agreement was reached that Burke should be bought-out of his contract and Downey is negotiating the buyout scheduled for Tuesday.  No deal has been offered for Personnel Officer Paula Kearns, who will be fired after Burke is forced-out.
